Mr B's review

When Nik and Norva find the body of their beloved art teacher in the bin-store of their London High-Rise block, they’re determined to find out who did it – and why. Nik is mathematical, calculated, and methodical. Norva is the exact opposite, relying on feeling and instinct. Together, they make the perfect team… right?
From page 1 this book had the potential to be incredible, and then it kept me up until 2am, so I think I can safely safe it lived up to that promise. I will read everything Sharna Jackson publishes from this point onwards with relish. I will recommend this to every single kid who comes into the shop looking for a mystery, who’s loved Agatha Christie or Robin Stevens, and wants something fresh, tense and completely original. It’s a Class A mystery, the perfect amount of clues and red herrings, the perfect level of difficulty without being completely obscure (although 10+ for sure, Nik and Norva are a solid step up from Hazel and Daisy in terms of complexity and content). It was hilarious, too – I loved all the characters, and was so totally wrapped up in all of them. An absolutely fantastic book, through and through.

Publisher Review

“I hope the High-rise Mystery series is a roaring success. More detective stories featuring children of colour are long overdue.” – Malorie Blackman; “I love crime books. I’m over the moon to see books starring the 11-year-old I also wanted to be. Bring on the bodies!” – Patrice Lawrence
